Born into a musical family in Northern California, Tom gravitated to sound from day one!
According to his parents he could imitate the neighborhood dogs before he could speak. He’s been barking ever since! He studied piano at a young age and after high school became a professional double and electric bassist which he continues to this day.
After moving to Los Angeles studied acting to camera at Valley College but also with Rick Walters scene study, Don Carrara (Bugsy),was a member of the L.A. Connection Improve group and appeared as Beetlejuice in Universal Studios Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue and appeared in TV shows China Beach, Divorce Court, and others, as well as movies Lush Life, Bird (Clint Eastwood Director)The Marrying Man, Death Wish 5 and more.
While performing as a standup comedian at the Comedy Store, Improv, and Carlos and Charlies Tom overheard a conversation regarding one of the comics recent employment as a “voiceover” in an animated movie and when he heard what the salary was his ears perked up!! He enrolled in a class with Hannah Barbera star voice actress Ginny Tyler. Tyler immediately began employing Tom for her own animation projects and got him cast in Brer Rabbit Tales, Brer Rabbit Christmas Carol voicing with one of Tom’s (and Robin Williams!!) main influences Jonathon Winters. His next VO connection was Sue Blu who’s book and vocal placement techniques took his character development to a whole new level. Sue not only worked as a VO but was a casting director and voice director and many years later after moving to the UK-Tom and his son Taylor were directed by her in an animation called Dorkhunters from Outer Space!
1993 saw Tom and his wife Jacqui moving to the UK with their two young sons. (A lovely daughter and son were to follow so work was a priority!)
Tom immediately picked up gigs as a bassist- one of which was a 4 year stint with the house trio at Ronnie Scotts Birmingham while also being in a trio that backed touring jazz greats like Art Farmer, Tal Farlow, Teddy Edwards and more. Jazz is a beautiful art form but the voice and acting needed to kick in as well to support the growing family! Tom was picked up by 2 voice agents (one in the north and one in London) and an acting agent and the rest is history!
Tom continues to voice, act, perform and also teach individually and classes for PQA academies in the UK with his son Taylor who has been voicing and acting since the age of 6!
Iconic voice roles include Tony the Tiger-Kelloggs Frosties, Game roles as Eskel in Witcher 2 and 3, Karl Fairburne Sniper Elite 2,3,4,5, Sgt Cortez in TimeSplitters 2 and 3 and more.
